Calender History Meetings Officers President's Message

A Message From Our President

Welcome to the website for Desk and Derrick Club of New Orleans. In 1949 an idea became a reality and word quickly spread to other cities about #1 Founding Club. In July 1951 the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America was formed consisting of clubs in Jackson, Mississippi, Los Angeles, California and Houston, Texas. The Association would soon develop into an international organization known as Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs (ADDC) with clubs throughout the United States and Canada whose purpose is to promote education and professional development of individuals employed in or affiliated with the petroleum, energy, and allied industries.

Desk and Derrick consists of three levels - Local, Region and Association. Today the Association consists of seven active regions and the New Orleans Club belongs to Region III. Each spring clubs within their respective region meet to exchange ideas. At the annual convention each fall members gather to elect new officers, attend field trips, seminars and participate in business session. Past Conventions have been held in Houston, Anchorage, San Francisco, Denver, Calgary, Dallas, San Antonio, just to name a few. Members not only return with knowledge of the latest industry technology, but with new contacts and long-distance friendships, that are cherished for years.

Regular monthly membership meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Each meeting has a guest speaker with various oil related and socio-economic topics. Several activities are also planned throughout the year, including field trips, seminars, socials and community involvement. Networking with other professional organizations such as NOGS, PLANO, COPAS, SGC AND API Delta Chapter has been a definite asset, especially when combining resources.

We invite you to visit our website to learn more about our organization in hopes that perhaps something may tweak your curiosity enough to attend one of our meetings. Teamwork > sharing knowledge > enhancing ones leadership, speaking and writing skills continually fulfills our motto of "Greater Knowledge - Greater Service".
